This section covers a range of more unusual programmes, both D'Oyly Carte and others. We also include here some of the anniversary specials, a few unexpected G&S sightings and the odd signed programme. Anything a little out of the ordinary.

ANNIVERSARY PROGRAMMES

To mark the 75th (or 85th) anniversaries of the first productions of most of the operas in the repertoire, the D'Oyly Carte issued these special souvenir programmes. Each of them has an outer cover designed by Peter Goffin, which details the cast list and venue for the specific anniversary performance inside the back cover. Sewn into the centre is a facsimile of each first night programme. Prices vary according to rarity:

THESPIS CENTENARY: Philadelphia

Programme for the Gilbert & Sullivan Players centenary production of Thespis, at the Plays and Players Theatre (Philadelphia), November 18th to 20th, 1971. Bruce Mongomery composed, directed, and played Mars in what is believed to be the world premiere performance using his (now classic) score. price reduced

THESPIS CENTENARY: Cheltenham

Programme for the Cotswold Savoyard's centenary production of Thespis at the Playhouse in Cheltenham, 4th to 11th December 1971, which used the Rees/Morton adaptation with Sullivan music. It includes notes on the original production and some quotes from contemporary reviews. price reduced
