As the only theatre company authorised to give professional performances of the Gilbert and Sullivan operas for many years, the D'Oyly Carte company toured the UK playing in many regular venues. The programmes for these operas were produced in a bewildering array of shapes and sizes, according to the theatre where the company was playing at the time. Only programmes produced after 1920 are shown here, earlier examples are found elsewhere on the site.

Only one image is shown for each programme type. Please click on the opera title for each individual item. Often one programme covers two or more different operas for the season at that theatre, presumably cutting down on printing costs. The dates, where available, refer to the opening of a season, which may often have run into the following month or year.
